BATTLE DAMAGED US M1 HELMET - VIETNAM
“Battle Damaged” M1 Helmet (Vietnam War period)
Complete with liner and chinstrap
I can’t see any markings on the shell,
(But can’t actually remove the liner )
The liner is post WW2 Firestone
Marked US 142 (On top of the arms of a cross)
The webbing liner is grubby and worn .
(The ink stamps aren’t readable without cleaning )
It does have some damage & torn at the front mount
The chinstrap is marked with the Anchor logo
Used by North & Judd between 1965-1968
Again like the liner it’s grubby and worn with damage
(Fraying, but not torn or detached)
Helmet has most its original textured paint
(Though there is some wear to the crown area)
I use the words “Battle Damage “ cautiously
But can’t see how else the damage has happened
The shell is visibly squashed on the right hand side
Pinching the liner to the extent it can’t be removed
(It maybe able to remove it with some serious jiggling)
The shell distorted to the extent it’s split at the rear
There’s also a couple of large dents to the crown .
Please note further pictures are available if requested
A nice addition to any collection,
If only it could talk !
